Due to the current situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the International Advisory Committee and the Local Organising Committee have decided to postpone the SRI 2021 conference to the next year.

The SRI conference will now take place from Monday, 28 March to Friday, 1 April 2022 on-site in Hamburg (Germany).

The new deadlines for the SRI conference are now:
Re-opening abstract submission: 1 April 2021
Deadline abstract submission: 1 October 2021
Early bird registration until 15 January 2022
Registration deadline 15 February 2022

All abstracts for contributions that have already been submitted for the SRI 2021 conference are also valid for the postponed conference. However, you can modify or withdraw your abstract during the time of the abstract submission.

After nearly 40 years, the SRI will return to Hamburg where the first meeting was held in 1982. At that time DORIS was the only operating synchrotron source in Hamburg. The metropolitan area now hosts three unique research facilities: the European XFEL, PETRA III and FLASH at DESY. These three facilities complement each other and open up new research opportunities for scientists and industrial users of the international synchrotron radiation and free-electron laser community. Hamburg is once again ideally suited to be the venue of the next SRI conference.

Rotating between Europe, America and the Asian-Pacific region, SRI conferences are hosted by countries with the most advanced light source facilities. They are organised by the international synchrotron radiation and free-electron laser community. The conference 2021 in Germany is expected to attract more than 1,000 participants.

The SRI 2021 conference will take place in the ‘new CCH’, the Congress Centre Hamburg, right in the centre of the city (close to the Dammtor train station), from Monday, 28 March to Friday 1 April 2022 .

Further information will follow on this official SRI2021 conference webpage.

We are looking forward to welcome all participants of the the SRI2021 conference in Hamburg. However, in case that the situation caused by the corona pandemic does not improve until then, we would take any appropriate measures.

Welcome message by Edgar Weckert (DESY) and Robert Feidenhans'l (European XFEL)
